Coolest. Sleepover. Ever!
Last night we got invited to go to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanskgiving Point with all the Fisher cousins. This is the kids' second trip to see the dinosaurs since we got to Utah a week ago -- Gram and Papa took us all last Saturday. Heaven for my two small dinosaur-lovers.
On this trip, we got a paleontologist named Jeff to be our guide. He was awesome, a true dino-geek. He definitely filled up Lucy's store of dinosaur trivia.
The kids had lots of questions. Gavin's technique was to stand right in front of Jeff with his hand up. If he wasn't noticed soon enough he would begin to jump up and down.
Here's the best part: after the tour, we got to pick a spot to spend the night! The cousins decided they wanted to sleep UNDER the giant Brachiosaurus.
So we rolled out our sleeping bags and pads and SLEPT WITH THE DINOSAURS! It's a bit disconcerting to wake up in the middle of the night looking up into a monstrous ribcage, but we slept better than we expected. And the dinos did not come to life in the night. (Good thing, this one would have stepped on us.) In the morning there were waffles, cinnamon rolls, crafts, and a 3-D dino movie. Then home for naps. A grand adventure had by all. Gavin is ready to go back tonight, and sleep with the T-Rex this time. (Maybe next year, buddy. The parents need some time to recover.)
