For January, the book club girls read a biography of the chemist Marie Curie. What better place for the book club discussion than a chemistry lab?
My colleague Mary Hoppe (bless her heart) put together a series of experiments relating to things Marie Curie did. After dressing up in protective gear, they measured radioactivity with a Geiger counter, mixed chemicals to see the reactions, and did a chromotography project, then watched as Mary exploded some balloons full of various gasses. Awesome!
Nothing cooler than a science lab full of girls!
