Brother's Day

For Brother's Day Gavin wanted a cake "just like Lucy's but blond inside." So he got a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. And, for being an awesome brother, he got a Pirates of the Caribbean Lego set and Wii game. He was one happy kid.

Today at church the lady sitting across the aisle asked me how old he was. Gavin had been sitting next to Austin, singing right along with every word of the hymns. The lady was stunned that he was five and easily reading those big long words. I have to admit that I'm pretty stunned by his reading ability myself. Gavin has always been so remarkably sweet and snuggly and easy to get along with that it was a bit of a surprise to discover he's wicked smart too.

I feel so lucky to get to be his mother.
